چکیده

The present study aimed to evaluate the effects of transurethral dividing vaporesection of the prostate in the management of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). From October 2006 to June 2012, a total of 377 patients who met the inclusion criteria with low urinary tract symptom secondary to BPH were treated transurethrally under epidural or sacral anesthesia using the dividing vaporesection technique. Of these 203 had a prostate volume of ≤80 mL and 174 had a prostate volume of >80 mL. Preand post-operative data were evaluated for prostate-specific antigen (PSAs, post-void residual volume (PVR), maximum urinary flow rate (Qmax), International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) and quality of life (QoL). Out of the 377 cases, 369 cases were followed up to

AB073. Semen liquefaction molecular pathways

Objective: Human semen is the jelly-like substance mainly containing semenogelin 1 (Sg1) and fibronectin (Fn) with the characteristics of coagulation and liquefaction in a short time. In our previous study, we have identified that Eppin could interact with Sg. Eppin C-terminal fragment bind the Sg fragment containing the only cysteine in human Sg I (Cys-239). Besides that, during semen liquefac...

Liquefaction of semen generates and later degrades a conserved semenogelin peptide that enhances HIV infection.

UNLABELLED Semen enhances HIV infection in vitro, but how long it retains this activity has not been carefully examined. Immediately postejaculation, semen exists as a semisolid coagulum, which then converts to a more liquid form in a process termed liquefaction. We demonstrate that early during liquefaction, semen exhibits maximal HIV-enhancing activity that gradually declines upon further inc...

Studies on Liquefaction Time and Proteins Involved in the Improvement of Seminal Characteristics in Dromedary Camels (Camelus dromedarius)

Semen was collected from six dromedary camels using artificial vagina during rutting season. Liquefaction of the viscous semen occurred in 23.89 ± 1.49 h. During liquefaction, proteins with molecular masses of 24.55 kDa and 22.07 kDa appeared in conjunction with the disappearance of intact 26.00 kDa protein after 18-24 h. These proteins were identified as β-nerve growth factors (β-NGFs) in liqu...

Crucial role of estrogen for the mammalian female in regulating semen coagulation and liquefaction in vivo

Semen liquefaction changes semen from a gel-like to watery consistency and is required for sperm to gain mobility and swim to the fertilization site in the Fallopian tubes. Kallikrein-related peptidases 3 (KLK3) and other kallikrein-related peptidases from male prostate glands are responsible for semen liquefaction by cleaving gel-forming proteins (semenogelin and collagen). In a physiological ...

Major role of human KLK14 in seminal clot liquefaction.

Liquefaction of human semen involves proteolytic degradation of the seminal coagulum and release of motile spermatozoa. Several members of human kallikrein-related peptidases (KLKs) have been implicated in semen liquefaction, functioning through highly regulated proteolytic cascades. Among these, KLK3 (also known as prostate-specific antigen) is the main executor enzyme responsible for processi...
